Friday was the first day back after our 5 day vacation in the woods. I had a 12.6 mile bike ride first thing in the morning, followed by an hour of working and some running to the dentist to have Celina's mouth checked because its still sore from her wisdom teeth removal back in June. I made myself a chiro appointment too and had some acupuncture, which was very needed after sleeping on an air mattress and then sitting weird in a stuffed full car for 4 hours on the ride home. Exciting stuff, I know! I caught up on one TV show I missed from the week. Still getting caught up and it's Sunday!
Saturday morning, I was suppose to run with Paul in RBC's Half Marathon in St. Paul along the river. I opted out after trying to figure out my foot issues for over a year. I just didn't think I could or would want to feel that kind of foot pain for 7 miles or more.
I did go cheer him on with Kendra, Celina and Evan.
Paul did a cool thing by taking Evan and running the last 50 yards to the finish line with him. The anouncer said "look at that stud carrying a baby".
Off they ran... to the finish line 2 hours and 14 minutes
After RBC has a VIP tent and we all got to enjoy breakfast which included ice cream sandwiches. I have to say, I was kind of missing just getting some exercise since I didn't get a chance to run or bike Saturday morning. I was not missing running 13.2 killer feet miles! Even though it was a hard decision to skip this race, I know it was the right thing for me, a 1st DNS!
Saturday night we were invited to listen to three bands play. A friend of ours, Daughter is the singer in the 1st band. This concert was outdoors at the Batchlor Farmer Resturant in Minneapolis and sponsored by The Current 96 radio station. We had no idea of who the other bands were for the night.
Amy, her husband Jacob playing the guitar, and the sax player. They did an amazing set of songs they wrote and one Prince song.
All three bands were great and we were happily surprised. I can't remember what the 2nd band was called but they play in many other bands around town too.
It was a fun night out with Patty. Amy and Jacob joined us after they finished playing and watched the other bands with us. The perks of being a starting band for the big act, was free tickets (thank you very much), a few free beers, and some free food.
They kind of had a weird food and drink selection at this outdoor concert event. Crayfish (which I tried for the first time) they are pretty flavorless so they definitely need some old bay seasoning. Kind of were like eating shrimp only tiny shrimp. We also had corn on the cob, meat balls and potatoes. Drinks were water, 2 kinds of Fuller beer or slushies of the adult kind. I indulged in two slushies that were pretty tasty.
Then what everyone was waiting for the band Matrix. I think they were from Canada? It was hard to understand any of what she was saying or singing but the musis was fantastic! Just super duper LOUD! Where were my ear plugs? Note to self, if you ever go to a concert again, bring ear plugs.. your hearing will thank you! I was a bit deaf after the music stopped.
Since we had been standing for 5 hours, I needed to entertain myself some what while watching the band.
Just trying out differnet settings on my camera phone.
Nothing like going to Taco Bell at 11pm because your starving after not really eating much for dinner other then a tiny crayfish and some corn on the cob.
Sunday we got out on the lake early at 9am. We wanted to see how Zoey would like boating. Something we never did with our last springer. She loves the water so why not bring her along.
We let her swim a bit off shore to get all tired out. Then off for a boat ride while we pulled Logan in the tube.
Its not a very big lake so we did a few circles around and around till more and more boat were out on the lake. Time to get off the lake and back home!
Zoey did great in the boat! She spent the entire afternoon sleeping. That's one tired puppy!
That's the end of our party it up weekend!
Monday not only will be my Evan day, but working for a few hours. I don't even want to think about how busy my work week ahead is going to be. I have goals of just biking every morning and kicking myself out the door to lift weights in the evening. Some where in there.. most likely, in the afternoons... I will be catching up on all the TV I missed while I was in the woods camping for 5 days.
