Random-ness of Tuesday!

Another non-working day! It's a   s l o w   work week! I am working Wednesday and Thursday for a few hours so that's at least something! Speaking of working, I ordered some safety glasses for work because now we should protect our eyes from the virus.
I am getting similar glasses but clear lens. They are also not from this company and only $8 each instead of $20. They have foam around the eyes to block out germs from going around the sides. I'll wear these working and maybe this winter while out shopping. It is Dr. Fauchi recommended!

I did purchase these safety glasses at Menards. They just look a little goofy wearing them but are non-fogging. Steve can just wear these for working when sawing wood. I'd rather look a little more normal when out and about, so I'll wait till my new safety glasses arrive. I can also wear them on cloudy days for biking and cross country skiing. Multipurpose!

Last night we sat outside under our new lights at night. It was chilly, so I was looking into getting an electric over head heater!
Steve suggested since heat rises, to just put a heater under the table, that way it will warm our legs and feet. We have the table propane fire pit to keep us warm on top. So, I'll try that before making a purchase!

Our little round table doesn't have a fire pit on it, so I ordered a small 10" round propane fire pit bowl. It comes Friday! I just wanted a fire at every table we sit at. Makes me feel like we are out at a restaurant and not just in our back yard.
We are back to inquiring about land to build. This land would be good for multi family houses. I'm getting all the details today. Just waiting for a call back. Steve's grandfather built apartments and made a lot of money off doing that. He would like to do something similar.

Steve wanted to get some wheat before it was picked. He thought it was too late and I noticed a little patch that they missed. So off he went to cut some wheat. It's now sitting in our garage. Not sure what his plans are for the wheat? Garage decoration..lol!!
I biked 10+miles yesterday with Celina and today might as well bike again!
I haven't been running as much as I should. I did go with Steve today to the park and I just did 1.5 miles. I must be craving salt, because potato chips for breakfast sounded really good!
Since I have the entire day, I'm washing sleeping bags, just getting everything ready for taking Logan to tour the University of Milwaukee next week. Cleaning our house some more, weeding and biking! I also need to color my hair and get pork taco's going in the crockpot for dinner. I might as well make myself productive!

Summer days are dripping away!

Moving right into August and fall type weather temperatures. I don't like the cooler weather! I need it hot every single day in summer!

This weekend, Steve and I got a takeout pizza from the town of Cannon Falls. We had a picnic with some IPA beers right in the park, next to the cannon river/ waterfall and duck/swan feeding area. It was a pretty busy park since you could feed the ducks and the bike path running through but what a great view!

After our picnic we drove to Lake Bilsby and continued our picnic by the boat launch. Just had a few drinks and watched the boats go by.

Steve is loving his new outdoor cooking grill. We sat outdoors on the deck and had breakfast Sunday.

I had purchased a fire table topper for our big table. Now I want a bowl fire topper for our small table.

Found this bug on our deck. I think it was dead with food in it's mouth!

Found this old photo of the kids. Could we just go back to this day and time?

Am I being Frugal?

I see some posts about how they are frugal with money, thought I'd try to figure out what I do to save and not spend. Of course ever since the pandemic it's a lot easier for everyone to not spend on things we don't need. There is no more shopping for fun, casual browsing the isles and shopping at malls. I have made some splurges for camping equipment, new sleeping bags, our screen porch shade tarp, a camping fan, an outdoor chair, and a new cooking grille and propane grill. Guess we did buy a lot of camping stuff but it's cheap compared to staying at a hotel and we don't want to do that during a pandemic! We also splurged on our vacation camping, we got restaurant take out a few times, purchased fudge and maple syrup. Paid for a camping site this year that added up to $100, we usually spend zero since we stay at remote campsites. Since our camp site was closed, we splurged on $18 per night and an extra $9 for the kids car. Pretty cheap in all for a vacation.

When you hear camping, usually you think it's cheap. After all, your not staying in a hotel spending $100 to $150 on up per night. All that camping gear adds up! If you keep your gear for years, or use it more than a couple of times, it pays for it's self in what you would have paid to stay in a hotel for the night or a few nights. We always do upgrades when something becomes available or easier to set up. We've purchased many tents over the years, the last few years, we up graded to instant tents, that are big! Easy to set up in 2 minutes and take down just as quick with no poles to deal with. Sure they are big, but bigger is better when camping or Glamping! Every year, we do purchase more air mattresses because they all never last the season. They aren't cheap either at $60 to 70 each. I'd switch to all cots if they didn't take up so much space. We try to fit as much as possible into our Toyota Highlander to take along to make our trip enjoyable.

Is camping frugal? Maybe after you have everything you need or do with less. It's what we enjoy so the cost isn't an issue. I'll buy anything to make life more comfortable while on vacation in the North woods.
