Trial Dualathalon

My trial dualathalon (run 2 (I did 3 miles), bike 10, run 3) went really, really good this morning. I have to admit, it did take me a while to get out the door. Staying up till midnight talking and having some wine with neighbors was not the best decision, but all was good as I got to sleep in, stretch, do my planks 2x's and decide if I was going to run outside or do it all in the gym.
I was going to run outside, but when I noticed how windy and cold it seemed.. 40's. I changed my mind and decided to just do it all indoors. This way I didn't have to load myself up with equipment, (heart rate monitor, watch, cell phone belt). It just felt like that would take a lot more effort on my part to run outside.
First was running on the treadmill... It starts off where you run 2 miles. I decided to run 3 miles at 6.0mph (a 10 minute mile pace) Level 3 (2.9% incline) random hills for 30 minutes.

No time to rest. I wanted to do the bike portion which would be 10 miles ASAP after I stopped running. I chose the hill program, level 14.. then dropped it to level 13 and kept the speed up to 90-100rpm the entire 10 miles. I finished in 30 minutes! I was dripping with sweat.
I wanted to see if my legs would feel weird coming off biking for 10 miles and going right into running. They did feel a bit off.. It's hard to describe, but it wasn't exactly like brick legs. I just started off semi slow and increased my speed up to a 5.5 mile pace (slow)with random hills to 1.5% incline..  I just stayed at that pace because I really didn't feel like running at all. I was not overly tired, but I just didn't feel like running more. 3 miles of running done in 30 minutes. Was I glad to be done even at an easy pace! I probably should have stayed to lift some weights after I finished, but there were too many people all over the gym. I really dislike having to work around people.
I was super hungry after all that. My 2nd breakfast of the day. I had 2 slices of white bread with jelly before the workout. We were out of my favorite whole wheat bread, so I had to make due. Thankfully, my favorite b-fast once again tasted really good!
I really pushed myself hard on the bike portion and kept it easy on the running for the most part. Instead of going fast, I wanted to do hills. I think that will help me go faster working those hills and not worrying so much about increasing my speed. That will come.. I'm hoping Sunday is really nice because I'd love to do a trial dualthalon outside tomorrow.. The road is the true test!
It feels like power nap time.. I'll give myself 30 minutes to recover with some Zzzz's.

This is a sign...

Steve and I picked up the boat out of storage this afternoon. It must be a sign that it's really spring and summer will soon be here!
I got a jump start on Easter baking and made some sugar cookies with purple sprinkles. We are having family brunch so I have a lot of baking to do. I'm making some sticky buns, a spinach-mushroom quiche and fluffy waffles with real maple syrup. Steve gets to make the bacon, hash browns and sausage. I think a fruit bowl would be good with strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and pineapple.
I have my long run - bike- run planned for tomorrow. I'm just hoping the light rain we are suppose to get really is light or non-existent. I really don't like running in the rain... at least the bike portion will be done inside.
Time to catch up on the Housewives, Big Bang and what happened last week on Survivor. I have some resting up to do..

You know its Friday when..

Yes, you know it's a Friday when the gym is empty. I have to be honest this is why we like Fridays. Its nice to have a quiet day.. I think there was a total of 4 cars in the parking lot and two of those cars are employees. People did start trickling in, but not too many.
I love the variety lately where I start off running on the Precore/Cross Ramp for 3 miles @ 30 minutes.
Steve was all for switching it up his workout today. We both biked for 15 minutes. His Stationary bike screwed up after he accidentally hit the timer instead of the resistance and he had no idea of how far he biked. I actually remembered to look at the mileage after my 15 minutes, level 12 hills. 4.15 miles..
No resting, off to run on the treadmill.. 6.0mph, level 3 (2.6% incline) for 15 minutes or 1.5 miles. I increased the speed to 6.5 for a few minutes when the incline was down to zero. It just felt too slow and harder then just running a little faster. I don't know why I care how fast people are running next to me. I do know, I'm the only one running hills. Everyone else does the zero % incline. They might be running a little faster, but I'm running bigger hills.
We have been waiting since last fall for this Mexican Restaurant to open that's in the same mall as our gym. I suggested we go for a late lunch/happy hour. What a great idea. Loved the bar and the food was really good too. I was so hungry I forgot to take a photo of the beef/chicken chimichanga we shared.
We will definitely be going back to this place. My only complaint is I love salsa and this was just so, so.. needs more spice and is pretty thin.. not chunks of tomatoes that I like. I really wanted a strawberry Margarita, but anytime I drink Tequila, my heart starts racing, and I get this weird feeling like my body has this sharp pain. Its so bad, I usually have to lay down for 30 minutes till it goes away and that wrecks my appetite because I can't eat anything after that. I pretty much experience this weird reaction after a few sips which makes me think I must have an allergy to Tequila. It's just not fun!
I might be coming to the end of my daily breakfast. I have whole grain bread with chunky peanut butter with a bottle of water almost every morning. I think I'm over it.. Might need to find another breakfast or mix it up a bit more. I had a hard time getting this down this morning. I hope it's just temporary because I usually really like this..

I'm so happy to finish my planks for the day. I'm trying to get Steve to do them every day with me too. He doesn't want a belly.. and this is the way to that 6 pack abs.. If only I could lose some fat then I could see some abs.. Maybe I'll post what I ate all day.. Might keep me away from the ice cream and hidden Easter candy???
