Monday March!

March came in with a cold, cough, runny nose and sore throat that just won't go away.
I'm missing my little cutie bug.. Since I'm sick, I don't want to pass on my germs to this little guy. I won't be spending my entire Monday just playing toddler games. I'll have to wait another 6 days before I can see Evan on Sunday family dinner night. That seems far too long!
I've been watching a lot of movies since getting sick. Not to mention all the naps I've been taking and eating tons of soup.
I'm hoping I'll feel up to going to a night yoga class. It's free this week at the gym and I really do love yoga. I'd hate to pass up a free trial. Sick or not.. I'm going to try to make it to the class.
I'm going to do a little walking on the treadmill today. I think I can handle walking a few miles. Nothing too strenuous again today. Just taking it easy.
I'm on Pinterest a lot. I love this raspberry coffee cake. I really need to make my own healthier version without the hydrogenated ingredient. I did find a few coffee cake recipes which I'm going to make at some point this week.  I just don't want to keep buying the bad stuff with the unhealthy ingredient. Might as well make it then buy it.

Lace up those running shoes!

I just was reading how runners like to lace up their running shoes all different ways then the norm.
I have high arches and that top of my foot bone usually rubs right where the laces cross. Not the best place to be rubbing for comfort. I saw a photo of running shoes being laced up this way, where you skip over the middle of the shoe. It couldn't hurt to try this lace up and see how it feels. You know what? I liked it. I usually struggle with my laces to get them not too tight, but just right. I didn't have to mess around with straightening the tongue of the shoe and fiddling around with the laces. It might look a bit strange to skip the middle laces, but then all runners do things a bit strange. I walked in my shoes for an hour, I did not run, so the true test has yet to take place, but so far so good.

I wanted to find other ways runners lace up, so I did a Google search and this is what I found out at Runners World. Depending on your foot issue there is a lace up technique for you.

I'm hoping the new lace technique works on my new Adidas Energy Boost 2 running shoe,  because I really want to like them. They are listed as one of the best new running shoes of 2015.

Okay.. here we Go...

Okay, I'm not 100% feeling better. I'm more at 60%.. or 50? Is that good enough to get back to my morning workout? I am ready to go and workout again even if I'm not feeling the best. My plan is to walk, not run for an hour, lift weights and use lots and lots of hand sanitizer to not spread my germs or pick up any germs. Plus, there will be a lot of hand washing.
Being sick gave me all this time to rest and relax.  I had all this extra time to be able to curl my hair. I wanted to try out my new hot rollers. I haven't curled my hair in... Years? Just like to keep it simple and at the most use the hair straightener. I was trying to trick myself into feeling better by trying to look not so sick. I was really good about putting Vaseline around my nose to keep it from turning bright red from all the nose blowing. That definitely helped keep me from looking miserable too.
I finally got around to semi organizing all my running equipment, iPod, heart rate monitor, lights, ear buds and GPS watches. Instead of it being all over the counter in a pile that was spreading, its now in one basket. For now, my running stuff is some what contained. I just need to want to start going through our closets and drawer to organize all our other junk. Running stuff just seems a lot more important. It does feel a lot better to get a little more organized. I have a long way to go.
Being sick forced me to lay around, nap and read all day long. Going on day 6.. and I've now finished 2 books going on my 3rd. Good thing I still have 4 more books waiting for me. I hate running out of books to read. It's kind of a small treat to have an excuse to read all day long and not have to save my reading for before bed.

Time to lace up.. and stop being sick!
