Friday afternoon we drove south to Fountain. We had a few drinks at the brewery in town and it was a mile from where we were camping for the weekend.
Had some delicious pizza delivered to us at the brewery.
We originally were going to stay at the farm, but that was booked for the weekend so we were offered the family rustic cabin on some property in Fountain instead of Preston. Much closer to Laneboro and a upgrade camping place as we had the whole property to ourselves and they had a few acres of land to walk in the woods.
We just used the electricity outlet from the cabin and didn't use the cabin at all. We had our tent and screen porch. Plus, the cabin was old, musty smelling with some mice. No thank you!
The property sits between two natural springs with caves. They had a dry river bed of limestone to go fossil hunting all down the side of the property.
Racoon tracks.
Natural spring, the water was freezing!
Cave exploring
Walking the circle path around the property
We found some really huge deer tracks in the soft mud on our walk
We cooked breakfast Saturday morning before going Tubing on the Root River. It was a 2.5 hour float down rapids and turns.
Scrambled eggs, Fried potatoes and bacon.
A bonfire Saturday night.Sun set over the valley in Lanesboro
Laneboro waterfall from the top buffs
Dinner on the patio in town. Beef tenderloin, and garlic mashed potatoes
Beer outside by the river.
