We had excellent fireworks right from our beach. The two neighbors put on a super show that lasted almost two hours! It was right over our heads and perfect viewing.
The boats come early to stack out a spot to watch on the lake.
We drove up to the the lake (Sauk) on Thursday morning. Found out our pop-up camper had some water damage to the roof. Two years ago we noticed the roof had been leaking but we didn't go up last year to the lake and of course the damage was done. The camper was moldy smelling and is toast! We've had the camper for at least 25 years so it served its purpose.Being out in the elements for years took a toll. It's a good thing I was prepared and packed both tents. We did need to get a few air mattresses but needed those anyway. We were able to salvage our screen porch from the camper so we used that this weekend to keep away the bugs.
We set up camp on the lake shore. We usually camp up on the hill away from the lake. I actually liked being on the beach again. When we first camped at the lake 25+ years ago we set up on the beach. It was nice being close to the lake and out of the woods for a change!
We did lose a lot of shore line due to the high waters this year and the neighbor spraying all the grass holding the sand in place.
It was a lot to set up but everything was a 2 minute pop-up type of tent or screen porch so it was fairly quick to set up and take down. We just had a lot to bring. We also purchase a table since our picnic table is at the top of the hill by the camper. The picnic table has seen better days too so we left it up on the hill and just purchased a folding table we can use again for camping else where. It worked great. I brough along a plastic mat for under the table and yesterday purchase one more for $17 at Cub foods. It works great to have something under our feet and we needed just one more to cover the whole screen porch area. The bugs actually were not bad at all. Only at night some flying bugs that liked the light would come out. The neighbor cuts the grass and sprays for mosquito's so we didn't get all bit up.
We did some grilling with Logan taking charge of the cooking.
Picnic and dinners camping.
Evening sunsets.
Pancake breakfast by the lake shore.
We had a section of old dock that we were able to still use to set up and sit on. We need a bigger deck by the lake now!
Jet skiing and tubing.
Turtles laying eggs on the beach.
Until we return again to the lake.....
