Birthday Surprise for Steve!!!

I had a great idea for a gift Steve would love for his birthday! I was soooo right!!!
Surprise!!! A 2019 Corvette Stingray! I didn't tell him Saturday where we were going. We had to pick up the car at the airport. He thought he was going somewhere then realized he was getting a car. We just rented it for the day because at $275 plus tax, it was expensive enough! Plus, we have zero space in our garage or driveway for another car! I told him when he turns 60 and the house is paid for 100%, he can get this car! I know, not exactly what he wanted to hear that it's in another 6 years!
We had perfect Saturday weather. The plan was to pick up the car, stop at Patisserie 46, have some breakfast eclairs and then go home, pick up food for a picnic lunch and stop at his brother's house to show him the car.
We sure did have fun driving around enjoying having a sport car for 24 hours!

We had our picnic in Baldwin Wisconsin. We ate and watched the parachuters.

We drove all over, out and around the city lakes, in Minneapolis, in the country etc..
We made a stop at the brewery in Hudson Wisconsin for a drink then were on our way to meet everyone for dinner at 7pm at the Ice house.

The Ice house had a Jazz player during dinner. We all got something different to eat. The food was just okay. Not sure if I would be back. I just thought Steve likes Jazz and would like the music at dinner.
Steve had the ravolie with pork and peas. I had shrimp.

After dinner macaroon from the restaurant.

In Minneapolis, driving to late night, Edwards Dessert and drinks. This was our last stop of the night for birthday cakes.

We weren't sure about the parking for the dessert place so we had a picnic on the roof of the car. We shared all the fancy desserts.

Early the next morning on Sunday, we had the car till 10am. We drove to Steve's parents house so he 80 year old Dad could take the car for a spin. His mom also wanted a ride.

One last stop was a coffee shop in St. Paul that served crepes. They were delicious! I had caramel apple and Steve got egg, ham and cheese. They were both delicious!

We dropped off the car and then Sunday night had Mexican food for Steve's family birthday dinner.

I made a carrot cake with walnuts and caramel sauce. It was a little dry. I've been slightly over cooking my cakes.
Happy Birthday Steve!! He is already dreaming about turning 60 and having the Corvette back in the driveway. This time it will be his to drive when ever!
